Turkesterone C
There are no controlled studies in humans; the popularity is not supported by data
Citable fact
«Turkesterone» — evidence level C. Dosage: The dose has not been established: there are no controlled human studies, so no justified amounts exist. The dosages found in commerce cannot be confirmed by anything. Source: PMID 31123801, permanent link to the source in the list below.
How it works
A phytoecdysteroid from Ajuga turkestanica, structurally close to ecdysterone. In animal experiments and cell culture, an effect on protein synthesis is discussed, but in humans this mechanism has not been tested.
Dosage and intake
The dose has not been established: there are no controlled human studies, so no justified amounts exist. The dosages found in commerce cannot be confirmed by anything.
No recommendations on the time of intake can be given: there are no clinical data.
Forms
Turkesterone capsules, usually with a claimed standardization of about 10%. There is no independent control of the active substance content.
What is confirmed
- The claimed anabolic action in humans has not been confirmed by a single controlled study
- The only basis for interest is its relation to ecdysterone, studied in one small RCT
Adverse effects and limitations
- There are no controlled human studies: neither the effect nor the safety has been established
- High risk of contamination with prohibited anabolic steroids: cases have been described where steroids were found in “plant” products
- There is no direct WADA prohibition, but a positive test is possible because of impurities — this is a real risk under doping control
- Reviews of supplements for body composition classify most plant “anabolics” as unproven
Interactions
- There are no data on interactions with medications and supplements
Who must not use it
- Under 18 years: Not recommended: there are no safety data, and the effect on the hormonal system has not been studied.
- Pregnancy and lactation: Not recommended: there are no safety data for pregnancy and lactation.
- use of drugs with hormonal action
- history of liver disease
- participation in competitions under doping control
