Raspberry ketone C
There is no effect in humans; the data are limited to experiments on cells and rodents
Citable fact
«Raspberry ketone» — evidence level C. Dosage: Labels state 100–500 mg per day. There are practically no controlled human studies assessing body composition, and the effective dose is unknown. Source: PMID 34913499, permanent link to the source in the list below.
How it works
In structure it resembles capsaicin and synephrine. In cell and animal models it increases lipolysis and fatty acid oxidation, but in humans it is absorbed and metabolized quickly, so a systemic effect is hard to expect.
Dosage and intake
Labels state 100–500 mg per day. There are practically no controlled human studies assessing body composition, and the effective dose is unknown.
No data; it is usually suggested before a meal or training without experimental justification.
Forms
Powder in fat-burner complexes; almost always part of mixes where the effect cannot be attributed to it specifically.
What is confirmed
- A 2022 review describes metabolic activity almost exclusively from preclinical data
- The doses at which the effect was observed in rodents would be hard for humans to tolerate: extrapolation does not work
- No clinically significant reduction in fat mass in humans has been obtained in controlled studies
Adverse effects and limitations
- Tachycardia, increased blood pressure, tremor and insomnia are possible, especially in complexes with stimulants
- The safety of long-term use has not been studied
- A small dose in the product is useless, a large one has not been studied
Interactions
- The combination with caffeine, synephrine and other stimulants increases cardiac load
- Caution in hypertension and cardiac arrhythmias
Who must not use it
- Under 18 years: Not recommended.
- Pregnancy and lactation: Not recommended: there are no safety data.
- hypertension
- arrhythmias
- cardiovascular diseases
- anxiety disorders
